In recent years, why do all kinds of young people not like to change their mobile phones or similar news has been on the microblog hot search frequently, which has attracted the attention of the majority of users. I believe everyone is very curious about why such hot search has been happening all the time. In fact, this reflects the continuous depression of the domestic mobile phone market, and the sales of various brands are getting worse year by year. In the recent statistics, The mobile phone shipment in July this year is not even half the level of the same period ten years ago. Why?

The annual decline of domestic mobile phone sales is less than half of the 2013 shipment

On September 13, the ICT Academy released an analysis report on the operation of the domestic mobile phone market in July this year. The results showed that the decline in the domestic mobile phone market shipments reached a historical record.

The annual decline of domestic mobile phone sales is less than half of the 2013 shipment

The report shows that in July 2022, 19.908 million mobile phones were shipped in China, a year-on-year decrease of 30.6%, including 14.672 million 5G mobile phones, a year-on-year decrease of 35.7%, accounting for 73.7% of the mobile phone shipments in the same period. From the figures in the first seven months of 2022, the situation is also not good. The overall shipment of mobile phones in the domestic market has reached 156 million units, down 23% year on year, including 124 million 5G mobile phones, down 17.7% year on year.

This performance is the "worst" in ten years. The domestic mobile phone shipments in the first seven months of 2022 are less than half of the same period in 2013 (345 million units).

On the whole, the domestic mobile phone market has seen a wave of shipments in the past decade, but most of them fell. Driven by the trend of 4G replacement, the domestic mobile phone market shipments in 2015 and 2016 continued to increase, with year-on-year growth of 14.6% and 8.1% respectively. However, with the 4G penetration entering the end and the market becoming saturated, the domestic mobile phone market shipments have entered a downward channel since 2017 and will continue to 2020.

In 2021, the shipment volume of the domestic mobile phone market will resume growth, increasing by 14% year on year. However, this is only a "flash in the pan". Judging from the performance of the domestic mobile phone market shipment in the first seven months of 2022, the decline of this year's shipment has been "firm".

According to the industry analysis, there are two reasons for the decline of domestic mobile phone shipments in the first seven months of 2022: first, the epidemic has affected the economic income of consumers, thereby inhibiting people's demand for mobile phones; Second, the mobile phone itself is not innovative enough to stimulate more consumers' desire to buy. According to relevant data, the current consumer replacement cycle has been extended to 36 months. In other words, more and more consumers do not consider changing their mobile phones in the short term.

The industry is generally optimistic about the future of folding screen mobile phones, but at present, the price of folding screen mobile phones is on the high side and the shipment is not large. Perhaps as the price goes down, folding screen mobile phones will become an important thrust to promote the recovery of domestic mobile phone shipments.

The above is the news about the sharp decline in the domestic mobile phone shipments. In recent years, affected by the epidemic and the international situation, everyone's consumption desire has been declining. What's more, the quality of smart phones is good, and they will not be obsolete too soon after a few years of use, so many consumers will not buy new phones in a short time!
