The real reason why Apple insisted on not replacing the type-c interface charger was revealed!
As we all know, in recent years, the charger interface used between models of various brands in the Android mobile phone field has gradually been unified to use the type-c interface. First, it is convenient for consumers. Second, it is also because the fast charging wattage has been increasing in recent years. The type-c interface is also sufficient and has a greater comparative advantage. But Apple still stubbornly uses its own lighting interface here. What is the reason? Now let's have a look!
Recently, a new EU regulation on unified charging interface has put Apple in the forefront of the storm. Luo You, a researcher at Starmap Financial Research Institute, believes that Apple has always been an opponent of the unified charging interface, with complex reasons behind it.
It is reported that the Lightning interface was born in 2012, both positive and negative use can work normally. At that time, the introduction of this interface was undoubtedly a great progress. However, in the past decade, with the rapid development of data transmission technology, Apple still insists on using this interface.
Reasons given by Apple:
First, forcing the industry to adopt the same charging specification through administrative instructions will hinder innovation, and the market should be allowed to choose which charging interface to use. More and more advanced charging equipment may be developed in the future due to diversified charging specifications and agreements;
The second is environmental protection. The existing lighting accessories are incompatible with the general standards. At present, there are a large number of peripherals in different industries in the market, such as musical instrument tuning peripherals, DJ peripherals and other music fields, as well as old Apple stock devices. Once the new charging interface is switched, these devices will inevitably be abandoned, and some charging devices will also be eliminated, causing harm to the environment;
Other reasons may include that the Type-C interface is larger than Lighting, which will take up internal space for expensive consumer electronics, and the mold needs to be replaced.
According to the analysis, the more important reason for Apple's move is that this industry chain alone has brought huge benefits to Apple. By charging MFi (Made For iOS) licensing fees, the annual profit may exceed 10 billion yuan, so Apple will not give up such a huge egg cake, which may be the most important and deeper reason.
This new EU regulation will force Apple to give up the Lighting interface and adopt a more general Type-C interface, which will deprive Apple of a large source of licensing profits.
In general, the official reasons given by Apple are still from the perspective of environmental protection, but in any case, the fast charging wattage supported by the new machines launched by Apple over the years still cannot catch up with the current mainstream models. I don't know whether Apple will consider this issue after the release of the new EU regulations.
