As we all know, in order to better implement the environmental protection action of low carbon emissions, Apple has not equipped chargers for users in any country since the iPhone 12 series. This action has caused great controversy at the beginning, but because Apple is the eldest brother in the mobile phone industry, it has no negative impact. However, recently, a Brazilian court expressed strong opposition to this policy.

Is Apple fined $19 million by Brazil or is it not equipped with a charger?

On October 14, it was reported that a Brazilian court decided on Thursday toimpose a fine of 100 million reais (about 19 million US dollars) on Apple, and ruled that the company must attach a chargingdevice when selling new iPhones in Brazil - "It is obvious that the defendant forced consumers to purchase additional chargers provided with the products in the name of the 'green initiative'."

It is reported that the plaintiff in this case is an association of borrowers, consumers and taxpayers, who accused Apple of violating the law by not attaching a charger to the iPhone.

Apple previously said that the charger is not equipped to reduce carbon emissions. In an email statement, Apple wrote: "Apple will consider the impact of everything it does on people and the earth. The charger uses a lot of zinc and plastic. Removing it from the packaging box can reduce 2 million tons of carbon emissions, which is equivalent to removing 500000 cars from the road every year." Based on this, Apple said that it would appeal the judgment.

The fine of 19 million US dollars is obviously not trivial.Last month, the Brazilian Ministry of Justice only fined Apple 12.275 million reais (about 2.38 million US dollars). Faced with huge fines, will Apple meet the requirements of the Brazilian market?

In fact, it's not surprising for users that this happens. After all, Apple is the first brand to announce that it will not distribute chargers, which means that users need not only to buy mobile phones, but also to spend extra money on corresponding chargers. This is really a pitfall. In addition, the iPhone itself is very expensive. I don't know whether Apple will change its policy because of this.
