Canalys released a report today, saying that in the third quarter of 2022, the global smartphone market experienced three consecutive quarters of decline, down 9% year on year. This quarter has been the worst quarter since 2014.

Among them,Samsung reduced channel inventory by vigorously carrying out promotional activities, and its market share reached 22%, leading the market. The global market shares of Xiaomi, OPPO and vivo reached 14%, 10% and 9% respectively

The report pointed out that Apple was the only one among the top five manufacturers to achieve positive year-on-year growth in this quarter. During the downturn, due to the relatively resilient demand for iPhone, Apple further improved its market position with 18% share.

Canalys said that at present, there is no sign of improvement in market demand by the fourth quarter of this year and the first half of 2023. Compared with the peak season last year, the festival sales performance in the fourth quarter of 2022 is expected to be slow but stable. However, it is too early to regard the upcoming fourth quarter as the real turning point of the market recovery.
