The iPhone manufacturer announced that its revenue for the first fiscal quarter (as of December 2022) was $117.2 billion, down 5% year on year. This is the first time that Apple's revenue has declined since 2019.

At the earnings conference call, Cook said that there were three things that affected the revenue: "challenging macroeconomic environment", foreign exchange issues and COVID-related supply constraints, resulting in the delay in the delivery of the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models. "Now the production has returned to the state we want," he added.
The decline of Apple's revenue is consistent with the general depression of the technology industry. Meta's revenue just announced dropped by 4% from the previous year. Alphabet's growth in this quarter is also slowing down. Although Microsoft's revenue has increased, its revenue has not met expectations, and its profit has decreased by 12%. Under the economic downturn, technology companies have been laying off a large number of employees, but Apple seems to have no similar action at present.
