According to Apple's previous press conference practice, Apple will probably hold the autumn press conference in September this year. But since Apple began to transfer its productivity to India, many small partners are worried about the quality of this year's products. According to the latest news, Apple's "Made in India" plan has been frustrated, and the scale and quality problems are worrying. Compared with China's scale and quality, it is really very different, I don't know how Apple will go next?

Apple wanted to reproduce "Made in China" inIndia, but was exposed to many obstacles

The Financial Times 14 reported that the efforts of the US technology giant Apple to shift its supply chain to India are experiencing local difficulties. The Financial Times quoted four sources as saying that Apple recently sent product designers and engineers from California and China to factories in southern India to carry out training to help factories start production.

According to the report, Apple is trying to get rid of its dependence on the China-centric supply chain, establish new businesses in India, and follow the successful route adopted in China 20 years ago to promote its diversification strategy.

However, the Financial Times said that the practice in recent months has proved that Apple has many difficulties in achieving its expected goals in India. At present, Indian suppliers are not only far behind China in scale, but also in production quality.

The report quoted sources as saying that Tata Group, an Indian industrial giant, has an Apple shell factory in Hosul with a yield of only 50%. In other words, only half of the shells produced by the factory can be sent to Foxconn for further assembly, and Apple's goal is to achieve zero defects. Two people involved in Apple's overseas operations said that the Tata Group factory has formulated a plan to improve production quality, but there is still a long way to go to realize the plan.

Apple began to promote the production of low-end iPhones in India in 2017. Last September, Apple began to accelerate the production of high-end iPhones in India. According to the analysis, Apple aims to end its high dependence on China's supply chain and hopes to replicate its success in China's supply chain construction over the past 20 years in India.

In January of this year, Bloomberg reported that Apple's 14 Chinese suppliers had obtained the preliminary license to operate in India. At that time, the report mentioned that there was still a lack of enough local electronic parts supporting manufacturers that met Apple's quality control requirements in India.

Recently, the Indian side has taken continuous actions to undertake Apple's supply chain business. Last month, Insider Tata Group planned to invest more than US $600 million to acquire an iPhone assembly plant owned by Wistron in southern India. The two sides had been negotiating for several months, and the media expected that the relevant transactions would be completed before March this year. This will make Tata the first local iPhone manufacturer in India. Previously, Indian enterprises only participated in the iPhone supply chain and did not produce finished products.
