IOS 16 is compatible with iPhone 8 and newer models, while iPad OS 16 is compatible with all iPad Pro and some iPad Air, iPad mini and entry-level iPad models released since 2017.

According to Apple's website, iOS 16 has been installed on 72% of iPhones and 81% of iPhones launched in the past four years. According to Apple, 20% of iPhones are still running iOS 15, while 8% of iPhones are running iOS 14 or earlier.

According to Apple, the adoption rate of iPad OS 16 is generally 50%, 53% of all iPad models launched in the past four years. Among all compatible iPad models, the utilization rate of iPad OS 15 is still quite high, at 35%, while 13% of people are still running iPad OS 14 or earlier.

Apple shared the installation rate statistics of the first iOS 15 in January 2022, but the data of this iOS 16 was released in February, so the difference in time is not allowed to be directly compared. However, in general, the adoption of iOS 16 is similar to that of iOS 15.
