Regarding the issue of charging interfaces, Apple has been very troubled in recent years, mainly because Apple's charging interfaces do not comply with the regulations of many countries and regions. Last year, the European Union issued a special warning in this regard, and if they do not comply with the regulations, Apple will not sell them in the future. Recently, there has been news that if the iPhone 15 limits charging speed or violates EU laws, let's take a look together!

If iPhone 15 limits charging speed or violates EU laws, Apple will be in trouble again!

[EU Regulation 3: Apple cannot encrypt iPhone 15 USB-C to limit charging speed]

One of the most eye-catching changes in the iPhone 15 series this autumn is the replacement of the USB-C interface. However, it was previously reported that Foxconn's mass-produced USB-C interface products for Apple continue to maintain encryption, which requires MFI (Made for iPhone) certification. Without MFI certification, data transmission and charging speed will be limited.

Of course, there may still be a turning point in this matter. We know that the reason why Apple compromised the USB-C interface is due to EU regulations. In fact, the European Union requires mobile phone devices to be equipped with a USB-C interface for wired charging in technical specifications. If the charging voltage is higher than 5V or the current is higher than 3A, the USB PD specification needs to be followed. The EU emphasizes that harmonizing fast charging standards will help prevent different manufacturers from unreasonably limiting charging speeds and ensure that the charging speed is the same when using any compatible charger.

Obviously, the principle in the regulations designated by the European Union is to reduce users' repeated purchases of charging heads and cables, and reduce electronic waste. If Apple strongly promotes MFI USB-C certification, it will inevitably go against the original intention of the European Union. Strictly speaking, it is illegal in the European market. However, there is also a small vulnerability in data transmission, which is that Apple does not limit charging power, but when it comes to data transmission, users still have to rely on MFI.

Apple will switch to using the C interface in the iPhone 15 series phones released in September this year, which also indicates that Apple has compromised, which is also a matter of no choice. Currently, there are no specific regulations in China regarding this aspect.
