Technology website MacRumors previously broke the news that Apple plans to change the name of "Apple ID" to "Apple Account" this year. This news was confirmed by Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman.

Gurman recently said in his Power On newsletter that the new "Apple Account" name will be enabled on the web later this year and in Apple's upcoming major software updates, such as iOS 18 for iPhone and Apple Watch.watchOS 11.

Apple has previously referred to funds added to Apple IDs as "Apple Account Balance," and Gurman also mentioned the existence of an "Apple Account" team within Apple.The term "Apple ID," which has been used for more than 20 years, is expected to be phased out later this year as the name change is completed.It's unclear why Apple made this decision, but "Apple Account" is apparently easier to understand.
